Why I Don’t Believe in Posting Content Every Day on Instagram
(Don't tell the Instagram algorithm gods on me.)
This is actually a fairly new revelation. Because see, I've just as much subscribed to and consumed all of the "best practices" and "marketing tips" to BOOST ENGAGEMENT and GROW YOUR FOLLOWERS.

Oh yeah. I know you know what I'm talking about. I went a little overboard in 2020 with those digital workshops too.
But thanks to the holidays, I got a little jolt of a revelation. I gave myself the break to check out from posting on social media (and pre-scheduled everything for my clients), and what it made me realize is that the fear I felt for needing to Always. Be. Posting... was driving me up the wall. So I kind of just stopped.
However, I manage people's brand accounts for a living, so admitting this felt very controversial to my internal business boss lady. (A marketing term I've also grown out of love with, but more on that later.) Anyway. I realized if this was a value I wanted to uphold for myself, I needed to see if I could do it for my clients as well.
I've always believed in the approach that your social media profile should serve as a secondary website. It's a place to share news and updates, but its main goal is to help people figure out: Is this for me, or is it not for me? So I sat down the first week of January to content brainstorm with no set number of posts in mind. My only goal was only to pull photos I loved and captions to share, plus jot down a list of fun graphic ideas to share with my graphic designer.
And you know what? There was tons of content there! For some clients, it made up posts for every day of the week. For others, it filled up 3 or 4 posts per week. And for my own account, I take a very loose approach of keeping a running notes tab of ideas and share them when I feel inspired. Some weeks that's 1 post. Sometimes it's 3.
This shifted perspective on posting has been working for me lately, so I'm going to run with it...
Tell me, what's your own social media content strategy?
